Maluku is the name given to the eastern most region of Indonesia before Iran Jaya and Timur. It is a collection of small islands a which were known to the Dutch as the Spice Islands of Moluccas and were the perfect and often only places in the world where you could find nutmeg, mace, cloves and several other spices. Maluku features over 630 separate islands, some of which are inhabited and some of which are not, there is a huge amount of water in this area where these tiny islands are spread out around such a large area in the most active area of the Pacific Ring of Fire. You will find many volcanic peaks around the Maluku islands and as well as some incredible beaches and and unbelievable underwater gardens of corals and large fish.
